Australian Fine Artist

About Janice so far…..

Janice originally studied at Chisholm TAFE in the late 1970s and has been a Graphic Designer/Artist for over thirty years. She originally trained as a fine artist and in 2009 returned to making that the main focus of her life and career. During 2011 Janice completed a Diploma of Management to help her manage her developing arts practice. She also completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment during which she wrote a 9 week Introduction to Drawing course specifically designed for small groups of beginners who want to cover the basics of drawing in a relaxed but informative atmosphere. She teaches painting and drawing from her studio for adults and children (8 years and over).

Janice completed a Diploma of Visual Art at Chisholm (2012-2013), an Advanced Diploma in Creative Product Development (2014) with High Distinctions, a Bachelor of Fine Art and Visual Culture with Distinction (Hons) (2018), a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Teaching (2018), and a Graduate certificate in Arts (Writing) (2019).

Janice also holds a Working with Children Check and a Police Check certificate.

As a long term resident in the Mornington Peninsula area Janice is interested in representing Victoria and it’s flora and fauna both in Australia and overseas through her art. Much of her recent work is dedicated to the unique beauty and history of our garden state, and more specifically the rural area near her studio. Janice’s passion is painting, to which she is now dedicated to studying to enhance her skills, techniques, and methods, to create a unique and professional style and presentation. She currently has collectors in the UK and Australia, and her work is now in the permanent collection of Chisholm Victoria. Her studio and training/display room is situated at the top end of the Mornington Peninsula on the family property. Viewings of her work can be arranged by appointment.

Janice completed her Master of Creative Art and Master of Communication (Art Journalism) at USQ and CSU, both with Distinction, in 2021. She also entered a few higher profile art exhibitions during this period, despite the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as completing commissions from the growing list of collectors of her work.

Janice is currently working on a new body of work based on her time in 2021 reflecting and researching new methods of painting in consideration of her eyesight issues. She is also a PhD candidate online with USQ in the hopes of completing her doctorate by 2024. Her research project investigates by exegesis, a case study of Australian artist Ola Cohn and a reflexive study of her own practice, which includes a body of artworks, in light of what is revealed in her investigation of Cohn’s life work.

  3. Dear Janice, Life is a learning curve, it seems. You have done a lot of that, evidently. I liked your words on Jan Hendrik Scheltema. Check out the new entry on him on Wikipedia, which contains much of my research on him. You could comment on it to me, crit or otherwise.
    Cheers
    Peter Reynders
